Public Speaking : Let’s Talk about it 🗣️ 🎤

The Bad News: So many people do not like speaking in front of others for a multitude of reasons. It might be out of fear/embarrassment (vulnerability, being wrong), past negative experiences (people talking over you in group settings), anxiety, low self esteem, or simply not liking it at all.

The Great News: Everyone has what it takes to be a great public speaker. Public speaking is a skill that can be learned. I believe that everyone should feel confident and comfortable when using their voice, whether that be in the classroom, workspace, and or relationships.

... Read morePublic speaking can often evoke feelings of anxiety and fear, stemming from past experiences or self-doubt. However, understanding that public speaking is a skill that can be developed is crucial. Whether it's delivering a presentation at work, speaking in class, or engaging in social interactions, everyone can learn to be a confident speaker. To overcome your fears, consider practicing in front of a mirror or with a trusted friend who can provide constructive feedback. Joining local speaking clubs or taking online courses can also be beneficial. These resources offer supportive environments to enhance your abilities and build confidence. Engaging in self-reflection to identify your unique strengths that can be brought into your public speaking can greatly improve your performance. Remember, even the most seasoned speakers were once novices. The journey to becoming a skilled public speaker involves not only learning techniques but also self-acceptance and continuous practice. Lastly, don't forget to celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Sharing experiences about challenges and victories in public speaking can foster connection and encouragement within communities that's focused on personal growth. Embrace each opportunity to learn and evolve as a speaker!
