The 5SOS Show
It’s been a long while since August but I’ve been missing this lately
First, stream Lighter, it’s such a summer song and I’m so excited to be hearing it down the garden state
This concert was so special to me, not only is 5SOS one of my favorite bands but getting to see them with these girls just brought back memories
For context, these girls were my best friends some time in college but we were at community college and eventually went off to different schools and as time went on we drifted as friends. This really hurt me since we used to do everything together and I eventually made new friends (who had the same end 🥲)
Some years later, I reconnected with each of them separately and slowly. Things have changed but I’d say for the better and I think I’m closer with Alyssa than I’ve ever been in my life 💕 but either way we’re all still those fan girls from Jersey screaming and crying for those Australian boys

Stepping into 'The 5 Seconds of Summer Show' in 2023 with my friends felt like walking through a time capsule, back to our college days. The original article touched on the sheer joy of reconnecting, but there’s so much more to unpack about the 'essence of love' that binds us. For me, seeing those familiar faces, the same group of women who cheered for 5SOS with me back in 2015, was a powerful reminder that true connections don't fade, they just evolve. That night, as we screamed along to every lyric, especially 'Lighter,' it wasn't just about the nostalgia; it was about celebrating an enduring bond, a love for music, and for each other, that has weathered years and life changes. It truly showcased the heart of what makes long-term friendships so invaluable. The journey from being those college kids in 2015 to the women we are today in 2023 has been filled with personal growth, challenges, and triumphs. There's a certain 'confidence' that blossoms when you realize you can pick up with friends exactly where you left off, even after years apart. It took a bit of courage to reach out and rebuild those connections, but the reward was immeasurable. This kind of shared history and unwavering support provides a deep sense of self-assurance. It helps you navigate new phases of life with more certainty, knowing you have a foundation of people who understand your past and cheer for your future. It's a quiet strength, a belief in your own worth fostered by these cherished relationships. Furthermore, this experience touches upon a unique kind of 'competence' – the competence of maintaining and valuing human connections in an ever-changing world. Life pulls us in different directions, and it requires a certain skill to nurture friendships across distances and through busy schedules. This reunion underscored the importance of actively investing in those relationships. It's a 'competence' in empathy, in communication, and in recognizing the profound impact others have on your well-being. Finding the time, making the effort, and being present for each other, like at 'The 5 Seconds of Summer Show,' are all crucial aspects of this. It’s about being ‘competent’ in building a supportive network that enriches your life. The visual evidence from the OCR, seeing our group of friends from 2015 to 2023, isn’t just a comparison of appearances; it's a testament to the enduring power of friendship and the unspoken 'competence' we've developed in cherishing those who truly matter. These concerts aren't just events; they're milestones in our collective story, reinforcing the love and confidence we find in each other.
