Okay, bookworms, I just had to share my current reading adventure! I've finally picked up The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas, and I'm already hooked. For a long time, I debated when to read these novellas – before Throne of Glass or after a few books into the series? I ultimately decided to read it first, and let me tell you, I think it was the right call for me! If you're new to the Throne of Glass universe or even if you're a seasoned fan wondering about the best reading order, The Assassin's Blade is crucial. It’s a collection of five novellas that delves deep into Celaena Sardothien’s past as an assassin, leading up to the events of *Throne of Glass*. For me, starting with this book has already provided so much context for her character. You get to see her training, her friendships, her heartbreaks, and the brutal realities of her life before she even sets foot in Rifthold as an enslaved assassin. Reading these novellas first truly enriches the main series. You understand her motivations, her trauma, and the depth of her relationships with characters you'll meet later. It’s like getting a secret peek behind the curtain, making her journey in the subsequent books even more impactful. I've found myself highlighting so many passages already, especially those that reveal glimmers of her fierce spirit and vulnerability. The book itself is beautifully presented. My copy, with its dark forest cover and that striking deer silhouette, just draws you in. And I love having a little star bookmark to keep my place as I navigate through Celaena's early adventures. It's those little details that make the reading experience even more special. Diving into the world of Sarah J. Maas is always an experience, and this prequel is no exception. It's giving me all the feels and making me even more excited to continue with the rest of the Throne of Glass series. If you're on the fence about when to read *The Assassin's Blade*, I highly recommend giving it a go before *Throne of Glass*. You won't regret getting this deeper understanding of Celaena from the very beginning!
