AFRICAN BEAUTY STANDARDS/ ✨Braids✨

As black women we should celebrate our beauty standards and remove ourselves from expectations and societal pressures that has nothing to do with our culture. AFrica has so many tribes with different hairstyles and braiding techniques that we should learn more about and carry those traditions into the new generation. East and west africa has so many fire hair styles that can make your outfits turn into a high fashion editorial campaign. Black women from the whole Dispera let's TAP IN and go back to creating hair braiding art 🎨. Wigs are cute but our foundation has always been braids. Each tribe has their own ways of braiding, and I think it's very fascinating. Summer is coming up so your research and have fun with your hair. Hair is culture, Hair is Art, Hair is survival, Hair is storytelling......Now go tell your STORY

... Read moreBraids are not just a hairstyle; they are a representation of identity, culture, and history in African communities. Each tribe contributes its own style, making it crucial for women to understand and embrace these diverse techniques. Today, traditional African braiding methods are gaining popularity worldwide, influencing fashion trends and personal expression. From cornrows to box braids, these styles carry significant meaning and heritage. Additionally, summer is the perfect time for experimenting with these looks as they can enhance your summer wardrobe and provide a sense of connection to your roots. By reviving these braiding traditions, we keep our culture alive for future generations. Furthermore, the African proverb "Until the lion learns how to write, every story will glorify the hunter" emphasizes the importance of telling our stories through our culture, including our hairstyles. As black women, embracing our natural hair and the art of braiding allows us to reclaim our narratives in a world where beauty standards often overlook our uniqueness. Braiding can also be seen as a form of survival and storytelling, showcasing personal and communal histories that have lasted through generations. Let's celebrate this powerful form of expression by sharing our braiding techniques, stories, and styles with the world!
