Team Jeremiah… I’m Scared Now 😩💔

Season 3, Episodes 1 & 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty… I’m not okay.

As a Team Jeremiah girly, this felt like emotional whiplash. He cheated twice, barely fought for Belly, and yet she ran back to him? Be for real.

She almost gave up Paris because of him. And now she’s saying yes to a rushed hospital proposal with no trust rebuilt? It’s giving trauma bond.

He even told his frat bro he cares so much about Belly because she was there after Susannah died. So if that didn’t happen… would they even be together? That shook me.

She also said she feels like she made a promise to Susannah to always be there for him—and that just adds to the trauma bonding. 😬

Meanwhile, Conrad—who was in a whole other country—was in therapy, healing, and literally saying he still loves her. He’s giving emotional growth, maturity… everything Jeremiah isn’t.

Even Steven clocked it: Belly overlooks so much about Jeremiah just to stay tied to that world. That family. That beach house.

And I hate to say it, but after these two episodes… Conrad might actually be the better guy. 😩

... Read moreThe Summer I Turned Pretty continues to captivate audiences with its complex love triangle dynamics in Season 3. This season delves deep into the emotional struggles faced by Belly, especially as she navigates her relationships with Jeremiah and Conrad. The recent episodes highlight troubling patterns of trauma bonding between Belly and Jeremiah, a situation worsened by his repeated betrayals and lack of genuine commitment. His confession to his fraternity brother that his attachment to Belly is largely because she supported him after Susannah’s death sheds light on the fragile foundations of their relationship. This raises critical questions about the authenticity and longevity of their bond. Conrad, on the other hand, represents emotional healing and maturity. His journey abroad into therapy and self-recovery contrasts starkly with Jeremiah's impulsive behaviors. Conrad’s continued love and respect for Belly, coupled with his personal growth, presents a healthier and more stable relationship option. This juxtaposition has led many fans, including key characters like Steven, to reconsider who truly deserves Belly’s trust and affection. Understanding trauma bonding is essential to appreciate the depth of Belly's struggle. Trauma bonds develop when intense emotional experiences, often tied to instability and abuse, create a powerful attachment that is hard to break. The overarching theme of family ties and the significance of the beach house also play pivotal roles in Belly's rationale for staying connected with Jeremiah, underscoring how environment and memories influence romantic decisions.
