Booth M., a scent guided by memory
#ad (I am making my own fragrance)
Take me to New York, specifically circa 2016, when the city was booming with new businesses, startups especially, and everyone seemed to be thriving. The food scene was so lively and amazing around this time: It’s one of the best times in my life. I was young, making money, and dating seriously for the first time. I miss this chapter of my time in NY especially the buildings and food places before name changes, major renovations, and closings.
Speaking of places that’s changed, this is an artist rendition, I own the rights to this image, of Booth Memorial hospital before it was changed to New York Presbyterian. It’s where I, like many Queens residents, were born.
Why is this significant? When you start something, anything in life, you need to reflect on the stops along the way to get you to where you are today and New York, specifically, Queens, NY is the first stop to explore in my journey as a person and as a business owner.
This is the art in collaboration for my first fragrance, Booth M., as a scent reminder of my time born and raised in NYC.
Creating a personal fragrance like Booth M. is more than just developing a scent—it's about capturing moments and emotions that shape who we are. Having lived in New York during a transformative time, I found that scent became a powerful trigger for recalling those vivid experiences. The hustle of startups, the evolving food scene, and even the changing cityscape all contributed to a unique atmosphere that shaped my identity. In my journey to design Booth M., I focused on combining notes that evoke nostalgia and resilience, mirroring my growth from a young professional navigating relationships and career milestones, to a confident entrepreneur. For anyone considering a personal fragrance, I recommend reflecting deeply on what memories and places resonate most with you—it helps create something truly authentic. Moreover, collaborating on the artwork, especially an artist rendition of Booth Memorial Hospital where I was born, added a meaningful layer. It honors the origin story behind the scent and embraces the importance of roots in shaping one's future. This approach can inspire small business owners to embed personal history into their brand narratives, making their products stand out through genuine storytelling. For fragrance lovers and small business creators alike, Booth M. represents more than a perfume; it's a tribute to personal and urban evolution, reminding us how scent can connect us to pivotal life moments and places. If you're interested in launching your own brand, consider how your story and environment can shape your creation to foster deeper connections with your audience.
