I have not watched the original 1981 movie so i can’t compare the two but recently I watched the 2009 remake of my bloody valentine and I think it was what I would consider the perfect scary movie. It has the perfect mix of thriller, horror, and mystery in my opinion and that’s what makes it so good. The plot follows an inexperienced coal miner named Tom Hanniger played by Jensen Ackles. Ten years prior tom caused an accident that killed five men and put a sixth, Harry Warden, into a coma. A year later, on Valentine's Day, Harry woke up and murdered 22 people with a pickaxe before dying. Now Tom has returned home to do some business and so has the pickaxe-wielding killer in a miner's mask, who Tom and his friends believe to be the ghost of Harry, now coming to claim Tom and his friends.
