What are your subtle red flags?

I was thinking about this because I read so many stories on here about if someone should think their boyfriends behaviors are red flags. These are some things that aren’t necessarily big gestures but if i notice any of this it feels like a red flag to me and I would get away from that person immediately. All of these are things that bother me but i was taught if a man is being disrespectful to his mother or other maternal figures in his life then more than likely he will not respect you either. As I grew up I got to see so many first hand examples of that so that it one that I really stick by. I have others but these are the ones that immediately came to mind. What is something that immediately makes you think “yeahh this person isn’t for me”? #asklemon8 #lemon8contest #relationships #redflag #hottake

Many people recall feeling uneasy about certain behaviors in a partner even when nothing outright problematic seems to happen. One of the most telling signs is how a person treats significant women in their life, especially their mother or maternal figures. Disrespect in these relationships often indicates a lack of respect more broadly, potentially extending to partners. Other behaviors to be cautious about include quickness to become physically or verbally aggressive, mistreating animals or children, and speaking negatively about other women in a degrading way. These behaviors can reflect underlying attitudes of control, disrespect, or lack of empathy, which could harm a healthy relationship. It’s also important to notice small but consistent actions, such as being rude to restaurant staff or strangers in public. These moments reveal character traits that may not align with your values or expectations in a partner. Recognizing these subtle signs early can save heartache later. It encourages setting boundaries and promotes self-respect in relationships. Everyone’s red flags are personal and vary based on individual experiences and values, so staying attuned to what specifically bothers you can help you identify if someone isn’t the right fit. Ultimately, relationships thrive on mutual respect, kindness, and understanding. Paying attention to the small things your partner does, how they treat others, and how they handle conflicts can give you insight into their character and whether they are suitable for a lasting partnership.

Lazy, doesn’t want to go to work, no goals, all talk no action. Doesn’t buy you anything for your birthday or Christmas. Doesn’t take care of his kids or contribute anything to the mother atleast. Late 20s-30 years old with no car but wants to date.

For me it’s how someone handles accountability. If everything is always someone else’s fault, or they get defensive instead of reflective, I’m out. Also how they talk about people who aren’t in the room—especially exes or family. That tells me everything I need to know.
