Sniping in Fortnite
I always hesitate to pick up a sniper in any game but I finally faced my fears and here’s a little bit of what happened 😅 #fortnite
Hey everyone! Just like many of you, I always hesitated to pick up a sniper in Fortnite. It felt like such a high-risk, high-reward weapon, and honestly, the thought of missing those crucial shots and letting my team down just made me stick to assault rifles. But I finally faced my fears, and let me tell you, it's been a journey. If you haven't used a sniper in a while, or if you're like I was and avoid them entirely, here are some tips I've picked up that might help you go from feeling like your aim 'stinks' to hitting those satisfying 'oh baby' shots! First off, practice really does make perfect. I know, it sounds cliché, but for sniping, it's absolutely essential. Don't just jump into a Battle Royale and expect to be a pro. Head into creative maps designed for aim training. There are tons of great ones out there that specifically focus on tracking moving targets, flick shots, and even bullet drop practice. Dedicating even 15-20 minutes before your main gaming session can make a huge difference. I used to think it was a waste of time, but after a few frustrating rounds where I felt like my shots just 'stinks', I realized this was key. Next, let's talk about positioning. Snipers thrive on high ground and good sightlines. Always try to secure a vantage point that gives you a clear view of potential enemy rotations or key objectives. Being above your opponents gives you a significant advantage, not only for vision but also because bullet drop is slightly easier to manage when shooting downwards. Remember to always have some cover! A good sniper knows when to peek and when to hide. Don't expose yourself for too long, especially if you've missed your shot – reposition quickly if you need to. Leading your shots is another big one, and it took me a while to grasp this. Unlike hit-scan weapons, sniper bullets in Fortnite have travel time and bullet drop. This means you need to aim slightly ahead of a moving target and often slightly above a distant one. There's no magic formula; it comes down to intuition developed through practice. Think about how far away the enemy is and how fast they're moving, then adjust your aim accordingly. Once it clicked for me, I started hitting shots much more 'finally' than before. It’s incredibly satisfying when you predict a movement and land that headshot! Patience is a sniper's best friend. It's easy to panic and take a rushed shot, especially when you see an enemy exposed. But waiting for that perfect moment is crucial. Sometimes, you just need to wait for the target to stop moving, or for them to engage in a build battle with someone else. Don't be afraid to hold your shot for a few extra seconds. Better a perfectly timed shot than a rushed miss. I've learned this the hard way, often feeling frustrated, but now I tell myself to breathe, line it up, and then fire. That calm approach often leads to an 'oh baby' moment. Finally, don't be afraid to experiment with different sniper rifles. While the Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle is a classic, the Hunter Bolt-Action or even the Cobra DMR can offer different feels and fire rates. Find what works best for your playstyle. Each sniper has its own unique bullet drop and reload time, so familiarity with your chosen weapon is key. Don't get discouraged if your first few attempts at sniping aren't perfect. We all start somewhere, and the joy of finally landing that epic long-range elimination is absolutely worth the learning curve. Keep practicing, keep experimenting, and you'll be a sharpshooter in no time!
