Let’s talk A Court of Wings and Ruin (ACOWAR)

I finally finished book 3 of the ACOTAR series!!

Took me seven months to finish it. Which is not normally how long it takes me to read a book but with having a busybody toddler, going to school, and working, I don’t have a lot of time to read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

1) this book was all about planning the war that you hear about at the end of book 2. Many small battles lead up to the biggest battle that is the last chapters of the book. There is a whole lot of destruction throughout the book, but each relationship keeps getting stronger.

2) Nesta and Elian both have character development throughout the book. It is slow but steady.

3) The Archeron Sisters become stronger together even though it takes 79 chapters for it to happen

4) I cried and screamed at the book during the last 5 chapters. Why must authors make us mad and sad all at the same time!?

... Read moreFinishing 'A Court of Wings and Ruin' (ACOWAR), the third installment in the beloved ACOTAR series, truly felt like reaching the end of an epic journey. For fellow readers who, like me, navigate a busy life with toddlers, school, and work, finding time for such a substantial book can be a challenge. But let me tell you, every single page of this book – which is quite a feat, given its length – delivered immense satisfaction and emotional payoff. One of the things that truly captivated me was seeing how the intricate web of events from the previous books culminated in the grand war. The original review touched upon the planning and battles, but experiencing it firsthand felt so much more profound. Sarah J. Maas masterfully builds the tension, taking us through smaller skirmishes that highlight the tactical brilliance and devastating consequences of war, all leading up to that monumental final confrontation. It’s not just about the fighting; it’s about the sacrifices, the shifting alliances, and the sheer grit required to protect Prythian. The sheer scale of the conflict, with fae and humans uniting, was breathtaking. Beyond the war itself, ACOWAR is a pivotal book for character development, especially for the Archeron sisters. While the original review mentions Nesta and Elain's slow but steady growth, I felt their journeys deeply. Nesta’s struggle with her new powers and her inner demons felt incredibly raw and relatable, even in a fantasy setting. And Elain, often seen as the gentle one, discovers a strength within herself that truly surprised me. Watching them, alongside Feyre, navigate their individual challenges while slowly, sometimes painfully, learning to rely on each other, was truly the heart of the story. Their bond, forged in fire and war, becomes an unbreakable force by the end. Now, for those curious about the 'spicy chapters' often discussed with the ACOTAR series – while ACOWAR certainly has its moments of intense romance and passion that deepen relationships, I personally felt its true 'spice' came from the emotional intensity and profound connections built amidst chaos. The focus here shifts beautifully to the emotional bonds, the profound love, and the loyalty that drives these characters, making those intimate moments feel earned and deeply meaningful within the larger narrative of war and sisterhood. It's less about explicit scenes and more about the powerful, passionate love that endures even when the world is falling apart. And can we talk about the visuals? I loved holding the bright pink cover of 'A Court of Wings and Ruin' with its striking yellow title and black sword design. It really sets the tone for the epic fantasy within. The visual of the cover alone hints at the blend of beauty and conflict that Sarah J. Maas weaves so perfectly. Seeing 'Book Review' handwritten on my own copy felt fitting, as this book truly demands discussion. It's a testament to Maas's storytelling that even the book's presentation hints at the rich, complex narrative awaiting inside, making it instantly recognizable to any fan of the series. In summary, if you’re looking for a book that delivers on epic fantasy warfare, profound character growth, and deeply emotional relationships, A Court of Wings and Ruin is an absolute must-read. It solidified my love for the ACOTAR series and left me eagerly anticipating what comes next for these incredible characters.
