Morning snuggles

Miss Bug is slowly becoming cuddly again. She was super clingy for most of her life but when she had her kittens she was very overstimulated and didn't want anyone to really hold her. But now that they're older or adopted shes gaining back the need to be held and spend some snuggle time with me.

From my own experience with cats who become less affectionate after stressful periods, such as having kittens, I found that patience and gentle interaction are key to rebuilding that bond. Just like Miss Bug, many cats may distance themselves when overwhelmed but gradually return to being snuggly companions once they feel secure again. During those times, I noticed that allowing the cat to initiate contact rather than forcing cuddles helped them regain trust. Soft talking, offering treats, and creating a calm environment also encourage cats to approach and seek affection. It's fascinating how these subtle shifts in interaction can restore those precious morning snuggle sessions. For anyone going through a similar experience with a clingy but temporarily aloof cat, remember that this phase is often temporary. Keeping routines consistent and showing love without pressure made all the difference in my cats’ comfort levels. Seeing Miss Bug slowly return to her affectionate self is a wonderful reminder of the deep companionship cats provide when they feel safe and loved.
