Just some thangs in my Junk Journals
Just some thangs I been working on lately for my journals , some are challenge pieces with prompts etc it’s been fun creating things to add to the guts of my books!! I’ve worked inside of three different junk journals so that’s been fun!! What have yall been working on lately? #mixedmediaartist #junkjournal #rabbitqueenstudios
Working on junk journals is such a rewarding and creative outlet! I’ve found that incorporating challenge pieces with specific prompts really pushes my artistic boundaries and keeps my work fresh. It’s fascinating how adding different elements, textures, and styles to the guts of the book transforms these journals into personal art collections. One of the keys to enjoying junk journaling is embracing imperfections, like the phrase I recently saw that said, "take CHANCES MAKE mistakes get Missy." It’s a perfect reminder that creativity thrives when we allow ourselves to experiment and learn from every page, whether it’s perfect or not. Using multiple journals simultaneously also adds variety to the creative process. Each journal can have its own theme or style, which makes swapping between them refreshing and inspiring. I typically use prompts as starting points and then let my mood guide the embellishments and mixed media layers I add. If you’re just starting with junk journals, don’t worry about having a finished product in mind. The fun is in the journey—collecting odds and ends, experimenting with stencils, stamps, and collage materials. Over time, you’ll create a unique reflection of your artistic voice. Plus, sharing your progress on platforms with hashtags like #junkjournal and #mixedmediaartist helps connect you with a thriving community for inspiration and support. Have you tried including quotes or motivational phrases in your journals? They add a personal, uplifting touch and encourage reflection during creative pauses. Overall, junk journaling is an excellent way to express yourself while embracing creativity without judgment.
