Luxury budget for 8/9 SPENT
Well, less than a week after paid, my luxury budget has been spent. I will say 2/3 of it was spent by my husband. But everyone deserves to spend some money on what they want.
Budget was $70.
Temu was $14.54
DoorDash order was $39.39
A PlayStation purchase he made was $16.38
Totaling $70.31
I feel like we did pretty good. Only $0.31 over budget. WIN!!
If you’re going to spend money, budget for an amount so you don’t take it out of other expenses (especially savings).
I’m proud of us!!

It's so freeing to set aside a little 'luxury budget' each month! Like the original post, I've found that even a small amount, like $70, can bring so much joy when managed consciously. It's not about extravagant purchases, but about valuing those little treats that make life feel a bit more special. For me, an 'affordable luxury lifestyle' means deliberately allocating funds for things that aren't strictly necessities but significantly boost my mood or comfort. One strategy I swear by is setting a clear budget, just like in the example where they allocated $70. This prevents guilt and ensures you're not dipping into savings or essential funds. Once you have that amount, it's fun to decide what kind of 'luxury' you want to indulge in. It could be anything from a special coffee order a few times a week, to a new book, or even a streaming service subscription that brings you countless hours of entertainment. Think about what brings you joy. Is it convenience? Then perhaps a DoorDash order, as mentioned in the original post, is your kind of luxury. Sometimes not having to cook after a long day is priceless! Or maybe it's finding great deals on items you want. Websites and apps like Temu, that were mentioned, can be fantastic for discovering those little 'wants' without a huge financial commitment. I've personally found some amazing hidden gems on similar platforms that felt like a splurge but were super affordable. For others, like in the article's example with the PlayStation purchase, it might be about hobbies and entertainment. Investing in a new game or an expansion pack for your favorite console (like a PlayStation!) can provide hours of enjoyment and is a perfectly valid use of a 'luxury budget.' The key is to enjoy it without regret. To truly embrace an affordable luxury lifestyle, it’s also important to track where your money goes. Seeing exactly what you're spending on, whether it's $14.54 on Temu, $39.39 on DoorDash, or $16.38 on a PlayStation game, helps you understand your habits. This insight allows you to adjust your spending next time and ensures you’re getting the most happiness per dollar. The feeling of being 'only $0.31 over budget' is a huge win because it shows conscious effort and control! Remember, an 'affordable luxury' isn't about the price tag; it's about the feeling it gives you. It's about prioritizing your well-being and happiness within your means. So go ahead, define what 'luxury' means to you, set your budget, and enjoy those well-deserved treats!
