Tuesday back after a holiday: Volunteer Coord.

The day after a holiday is so busy. I will say, I enjoy planning out my day/week in my planner so that wasn’t too shabby.

But, I had so many missed messages, calls, and emails. Not only that, but there were last minute cancels for routes. So not only did I need to fill the rest of the weeks routes, but I had to scramble to fill today’s routes.

Also, who schedules meetings the day after a holiday? I’m trying to get my feet under me. We JUST got back. Craziness.

It's common to find yourself flooded with missed communications such as calls and emails that piled up while you were away. In addition to catching up on messages, the need to adapt quickly to last-minute changes can add to the stress. It’s essential to prioritize tasks effectively, possibly by using tools like planners or digital calendars that help visualize your week ahead. One of the best practices is to allocate the first few hours of your return to address the most urgent issues first. This includes reaching out to team members about any immediate changes necessary for project timelines. Consider organizing a quick meeting to realign your team's objectives, especially if changes occurred that you need to be aware of. Furthermore, if you find it challenging to get back into work mode, take a moment to reflect on what strategies worked for you before the break and apply those during your transition back into your work routine. Time management methods such as Pomodoro or time blocking can also be beneficial during such busy times. Lastly, remember that it’s okay to feel a bit disoriented after a break. Acknowledging the difficulty of readjusting can also ease your transition. By leveraging your planning skills and being proactive in communication, you'll not only get back on track but might also streamline processes to make future post-holiday transitions smoother.
