หลังจากที่ได้อ่านหนังสือ "พม่าเสียเมือง" เล่มนี้ ผมรู้สึกประทับใจในวิธีการเล่าเรื่องที่ไม่เหมือนใครของคุณชายคึกฤทธิ์ ซึ่งนำเสนอประวัติศาสตร์ในมุมมองที่ตลกร้ายแต่แฝงด้วยความจริงจัง ทำให้ผู้อ่านเข้าใจสงครามและเหตุการณ์ต่างๆ ของพม่าในสมัยพระเจ้าสีป่อจนถึงการเสียเมืองให้อังกฤษได้อย่างน่าสนใจและสนุกสนานมากขึ้น ในฐานะคนที่ชอบอ่านหนังสือประวัติศาสตร์ ผมเห็นว่าการที่หนังสือเล่มนี้ไม่ได้ยึดติดกับข้อมูลประวัติศาสตร์แบบตรงตัว แต่นำประเด็นการเมืองและประวัติศาสตร์มาผสมผสานกับการแซะนักการเมืองและการแสดงความคิดเห็นในเชิงประชาธิปไตยของสยาม ทำให้หนังสือเล่มนี้กลายเป็นมุมมองที่หลากหลายและเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้อ่านได้ไตร่ตรองในเชิงลึกเกี่ยวกับยุทธศาสตร์การปกครองและการเปลี่ยนแปลงของสังคม ประสบการณ์การยืมหนังสือจากห้องสมุดเพื่อการเรียนรู้ ภาษีเจริญ ก็เป็นส่วนหนึ่งที่ช่วยให้ผมเข้าถึงหนังสือหายากและมีเนื้อหาลึกซึ้งเช่นนี้ บรรยากาศที่เป็นมิตรและการเดินทางที่สะดวกผ่าน MRT ภาษีเจริญ ทำให้การอ่านและการเรียนรู้เป็นเรื่องง่ายและน่าสนุกขึ้นมาก สำหรับใครที่ต้องการอ่านหนังสือที่มีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับประวัติศาสตร์พม่าและการเปรียบเทียบกับประวัติศาสตร์ไทยในยุคต่างๆ พร้อมมุมมองแสบๆ คันๆ แนะนำให้ลองหาอ่านหนังสือเล่มนี้ดูครับ แต่ขอเตือนว่าควรอ่านด้วยความคิดเปิดกว้าง และอย่าเอาจริงเอาจังกับทุกข้อความเกินไป เพราะหนังสือมีลักษณะเหมือนนิยายอิงประวัติศาสตร์ผสมเสียดสีทางสังคมและการเมือง ทำให้เป็นหนังสือที่อ่านแล้วได้ทั้งความรู้และความบันเทิงอย่างลงตัว
