You can’t hide from God 🩷
💜Luke 19:1-10
🩵Exodus 17:8-16
It’s a phrase that can feel both comforting and convicting: 'You can’t hide from God.' Lately, I've been diving deep into my Bible notes, and these verses, Luke 19:1-10 and Exodus 17:8-16, truly bring that truth to life in such powerful ways. It’s not about fear, but about the incredible reality of a God who sees us, knows us, and loves us, even when we feel completely exposed. My notes from Luke 19, the story of Zacchaeus, always remind me of God's amazing pursuit. Zacchaeus, a tax collector, probably thought he could just observe Jesus from a distance, hidden in that sycamore tree. But Jesus saw him. He called him by name! This isn't just a physical seeing; it's a spiritual one. It shows that no matter what we've done, no matter how much we try to blend into the crowd or even hide our struggles, God knows exactly where we are. He knows our emptiness, our longings, and He desires to satisfy them. This encounter completely transformed Zacchaeus, proving that God's love isn't just for the 'perfect' but especially for those considered 'sinners' or outcasts. It’s a beautiful reminder that we can’t hide our hearts from Him, and thankfully, He meets us right where we are with grace and an invitation to new life. Then, turning to Exodus 17, the story of the Israelites battling the Amalekites while Moses's hands were raised, speaks to a different aspect of not being able to hide: our weariness and need for support. Moses couldn't hide his fatigue; his arms grew heavy. But God orchestrated a solution through Aaron and Hur, who supported his hands. This passage powerfully illustrates God's omnipresent power and purpose, even in our battles and moments of weakness. We might try to hide our struggles, our temptations, or our weariness from others, or even from ourselves, but God sees it all. He empowers us, often through community and prayer, to persevere. It underscores the importance of obedience, even when things are tough, and highlights how God uses anything and anyone to bring about His deliverance. It’s a call to honest prayer and allowing God to move in our lives, knowing He sees our every need and is ready to act. So, when I think about 'you can’t hide from God,' it’s not a threat, but a profound comfort. It means I am always seen, always known, and always loved. It encourages me to live authentically, to lean on God's word, and to extend that same love and kindness to others, especially those who might feel unseen or judged. My Bible notes constantly reinforce the message that God is active, powerful, and intimately involved in our lives – from satisfying our emptiness to delivering us from weariness. Let’s embrace this truth and allow it to transform how we live and how we pray.
