This was definitely a read that met my expectations, but I don’t know if it exceeded them, and I know that’s a hot take! I do love B.K. and her writing I just think maybe the story didn’t hit home with me as much I don’t know haha! I do have to say I loved the ending of this read so much, like the last 10% I cried! All of the characters really stand out, not just Aiden and Lucie, which is always a plus! I really loved that it’s a cool take on Sleepless in Seattle!! I loved that Lucie actually had a more male-dominated job, and was a single mom, those 2 things you don’t read about enough! I’d definitely recommend if you’re looking for a super fast romance to get lost in!
... Read moreIf you're a fan of contemporary romance novels that weave in nostalgic elements from beloved classics like Sleepless in Seattle, this book by B.K. Borison delivers an engaging and heartfelt experience. What I found particularly refreshing was the central character Lucie—a single mother who thrives in a male-dominated industry, adding depth and relatability to her struggles and triumphs. The dynamic between Lucie and Aiden, sparked during the 'Heartstrings' radio show, not only creates a compelling storyline but also highlights the unpredictable nature of finding love in unexpected places.
Listening to Lucie and Aiden's interview going viral adds a modern twist to the traditional love story, reflecting how media and social platforms impact personal relationships today. The novel explores themes of vulnerability, career ambition, and the balancing act many single parents face when opening up to new love. I appreciated how the story didn't just focus on the leads but fleshed out supporting characters, enriching the narrative with diverse perspectives.
While the story moves at a fast pace ideal for readers who enjoy quick immersions into romantic tales, the emotional payoff near the ending truly sets it apart. The last portion is especially poignant, evoking genuine emotion and reflecting the complexities of choosing between public expectations and personal happiness.
For readers seeking a romance that is light yet emotionally resonant, with modern-day challenges and a nod to classic cinema, this novel hits the mark. It's a perfect pick if you want a book to get lost in without the commitment of a lengthy saga. Plus, the unique setting involving a radio show brings an auditory charm, making you almost hear the broadcasts as you read. Highly recommended for those who appreciate diverse female leads and heartfelt love stories that feel both fresh and familiar.
