The steps I took to start my book!
Starting a book is a challenge for most writers/authors. I always struggle and critique my work until I ultimately give up. I found some ways that kept me motivated and made the writing journey run smoothly.
1. Have a clear idea.
♥️ If you have a idea, it’s a good start. Who is included in the thought? How many people are they encountering? Is it an internal battle or external? These are questions that help expand the five w’s.
2. List your characters you are sure of.
♥️ Character charts make it easy to remember the goal. What internal conflicts do they have or encounter? How does it contribute to the plot? What is their personality like? It’s okay to start with minimum characters! Someone will always pop up as you write!
3. Outline! Outline! Outline!
♥️ Outlines are crucial to making a good book. It allows you to remain focused on a goal. This also helps track what happens when. You have the freedom to add the side quests. I have some resources that have helped me that I can share, but a pen and paper is where I started!
4. Time to write!
♥️Don’t worry about the best opener or if your writing sounds good! Let the words flow and stay to the story. The best advice that i’ve gotten was to wait before start going back through and editing. Just keep the rhythm.
It’s okay for your first draft to be absolutely horrible. Mine is! It’s just a starting point!! I’m no professional and these are what works for me! Happy journey!#writingabook #lemon8diarychallenge #writingbooks #writingvibes #authorlife #authorsoflemon8 #authortok #book #booktok
Starting a book can often feel overwhelming, especially for new authors. To enhance your writing journey, consider employing various techniques and strategies. Firstly, seek inspiration from books, movies, or even real-life experiences to fuel your creativity. Networking with other writers can provide invaluable support; joining writing groups or participating in forums can expose you to new ideas and perspectives. Moreover, setting realistic goals and adhering to a consistent writing schedule can significantly improve productivity and progress. Understanding your audience is crucial as well. Define who will read your book and tailor your content to cater to their preferences. Experiment with different writing styles and tones; don’t hesitate to rewrite sections until they feel right. The editing stage is where your book truly takes shape, so give yourself permissions to refine and revise your earlier drafts. Moreover, engaging in writing prompts or exercises can stimulate your mind, leading to unexpected breakthroughs in your writing process. Remember, each writer has a unique journey, and finding what works best for you may take some time. Embrace the process, and allow yourself the freedom to explore various paths in your writing journey without fear of failure.
