day two of editing
She is rough! I have no problem with it because I honestly love reading what I wrote but some of this does not make sense to the updated plot and it’s honestly hilarious to find my mistakes. The book is very serious, but you would never know because of the way I wrote it in the beginning! Changes are coming soon. 37/384 are edited so far!!#lemon8diarychallenge #unfinishedbook #bookedit #writercommunity #writersoflemon8 #writersoflemon #writertok #author #authorsoflemon8 #authorlife
Editing a manuscript can be incredibly revealing, showing both the growth of your writing style and the need for adaptability in storytelling. As I progress through the edits, I've noticed the importance of maintaining the core message while refining the plot. Editing isn't just about fixing grammar; it's about enhancing the overall substance of the story. In my phase of editing, I ensure that every chapter aligns with the updated narrative direction, making sure that the humor that originally colored my drafts is preserved through revisions. During these initial edits, I often revisit earlier sections, recognizing the difference in my writing approach. The transformation from the first draft to the second reveals the intricacies of character development and storyline plausibility. Comments from trusted peers or writing groups have also influenced my editing decisions, guiding me to reflect on multiple perspectives. Understanding how others perceive the plot can significantly alter the intended impact on readers, thus becoming a pivotal part of the revision process. Additionally, for those also engaged in writing and editing, it is useful to embrace feedback proactively and use editing as a tool for personal growth. Knowing that these changes will ultimately lead to a more polished and cohesive narrative makes the sometimes challenging process of self-critique worthwhile. If you're embarking on a similar editing journey, remember to celebrate small victories, such as completing a chapter or fixing a particularly tricky plot hole, as they are all steps toward the finished product!
