Formatting your book

Listen, when you finish your book and get stuck as to why companies like B&N Press, Ingram and Amazon Publishing won’t accept your document, it’s because of formatting. Lucky for me, my novel was written on Reedsy and they automatically do it for you. However, with my poetry book the formatting wasn’t working.

I typed my poems into a word document for 5x8 book format. Quickly realizing I wanted more of a pocket booklet look (4x6). When going back to mess with the margins it took everything a moved it around, so MAKE SURE YOU FORMAT BEFORE WRITING!

I had no idea what I was doing in order to format my book. I was using the guidelines from KDP publishing and it seemed to do the trick. However when I switched the size of the book, I realized I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. This is where youtube came to play. The video by Natalia Leigh was worlds of help. I have officially formatted my book and understood it.

If you are like me and money is tight, I definitely recommend these two resources. However, there are many people who will do it for you with a price ♥️ Do whatever seems fit !!
