Are you…Team TEXT 📱 or Team CALL ☎️
Personally, I am team text. I have a mixture in my life. Friends that LOVE long phone calls & will not text. I will say the majority of people in my life are ok with texting. Since I teach all day, I absolutely prefer to save my voice after work. Of course I make exceptions for the people I love.
What about you??
Do you prefer texting or calling—and why? Is it convenience, anxiety, or just personal preference?

It's so interesting to see how many of us are divided on this! Like Rainey, I find myself firmly on 'Team Text' most of the time. After a long day, especially after teaching, sometimes my brain just can't handle the energy output of a phone call, you know? It's not that I don't love hearing my friends' voices, but the sheer convenience of texting is just unmatched for my lifestyle. For me, texting is perfect for quick updates, sharing funny memes, or coordinating plans without interrupting someone's day. I can shoot off a message during a break, and they can reply when it suits them. It feels less intrusive, especially when you're not sure if someone's busy or already engaged in something else. Plus, I love having a written record of conversations – no more forgetting details from a phone call! It’s also great for those moments when you need to gather your thoughts before responding, avoiding awkward silences or saying something you didn't quite mean in the heat of the moment. This is often where the 'texting vs talking in person' debate comes in, as texting gives you that buffer to compose your thoughts. It’s also my preferred method for casual check-ins or confirming details for an event. However, I totally get why some people are 'Team Call.' There's a certain warmth and immediate connection you get from hearing someone's voice that texts just can't replicate. When you hear the tone, the laughter, the subtle inflections, it feels far more personal and authentic. For serious discussions, expressing complex emotions, or just catching up properly after a long time, a phone call often wins hands down. It's much quicker to resolve misunderstandings or brainstorm ideas when you can have a real-time, dynamic back-and-forth. Sometimes, when a friend asks, 'can we talk on the phone?' or suggests, 'call instead of text,' I know it’s for something important, sensitive, or a deeper conversation that needs that immediate, personal touch. There are times when a 'phone call' is simply irreplaceable, like comforting someone or sharing exciting news that needs an instant reaction. The truth is, there's no universally 'right' or 'wrong' answer when it comes to 'text or call' or 'texting or calling.' It really boils down to the specific situation, the urgency, the nature of the message, and certainly, personal preference. For urgent matters, sharing bad news that requires empathy, or conveying strong, nuanced emotions, a phone call is almost always the better choice. For simple questions, sharing links, quick confirmations, or just a casual 'thinking of you,' texting is ideal. And let's not forget the anxiety factor – for some, making a phone call can feel incredibly daunting, leading them to always choose text, while others might feel texting is too impersonal for anything beyond basic logistics. Ultimately, good communication is about choosing the right tool for the job – and crucially, for the person you're talking to! Sometimes, I'll even send a text asking, 'Hey, is now a good time for a quick call?' just to be considerate and respect their schedule. It shows you value their time and method of communication. It's all about finding that thoughtful balance. What are your go-to situations for each? 'Let's chat' more about it in the comments – I'd love to hear your communication hacks and personal rules!
