Make your iPhone into a clock during the night😴💤

I’ve always known about turning your iPhone to the side when it is on the charger it creates this clock, but I did not know that you could actually customize the clock! Here are some of the tips I have if you want to try this out next time you fall asleep!

go into your settings and click on standby and then make sure it is turned onto green. Once that is done, you can then plug in your phone and lay it horizontally.

✨ TIPS: ✨

to change from a clock to a picture to a widget swipe left to right.

to change the widgets or the colors swipe up and down on the screen.

... Read moreOkay, so I finally got around to trying out iPhone StandBy mode, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer for my nightstand! I always saw those cool digital clocks on iPhones in pictures, but never realized how easy it was to set up and customize. My bedroom feels so much more organized and chic now. First off, getting it enabled is super simple, just like the original post mentioned: dive into your Settings, find 'StandBy,' and toggle that switch to green. But the real magic happens when you plug your iPhone into its charger and lay it horizontally. Suddenly, your phone transforms into this beautiful, information-rich display. I usually prop mine up on a little stand on my nightstand, which makes it perfect for a quick glance during the night. The OCR images even show a cool wooden easel setup, which gave me some inspiration! What I absolutely love is the customization. When you're in StandBy mode, you can swipe left and right to switch between different views: a classic clock, a photo album, or a stack of widgets. For my nightstand, I mostly stick to the clock view. You're not just limited to one type of clock either! I found that by swiping up and down on the clock face, you can cycle through a bunch of styles – from sleek digital clocks with bold numbers (perfect for seeing in the dark!) to elegant analog designs. There's even an option for a 'red night mode' display, which is much softer on the eyes when you're half-asleep. This really helps keep my sleep undisturbed compared to a bright screen. Beyond just telling time, the widget view is incredibly handy. Imagine having your calendar, weather, or even your favorite smart home controls right there on your nightstand, without even touching your phone! I've set up a dual-widget display with the weather on one side and my next alarm on the other. It's so practical for getting ready in the morning or just checking the forecast before bed. You can customize these widgets by long-pressing on them – just like you would on your home screen – and add or remove what you need. For those who love personal touches, the photo album view is amazing. You can select specific albums to display, turning your iPhone into a digital picture frame showcasing your favorite memories. It's a lovely way to drift off to sleep or wake up to happy moments. A few extra tips I've picked up: Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 17 or later, as StandBy mode is a newer feature. Also, if you have an iPhone 14 Pro or 15 Pro, the Always-On Display feature really shines here, keeping the clock visible without you having to tap the screen. For older models, a quick tap will wake it up. Don't forget about privacy too – you can adjust settings so notifications don't interrupt your peaceful nightstand display. Overall, StandBy mode has completely changed how I use my iPhone at night. It's not just a phone anymore; it's a stylish, functional bedside companion. If you haven't tried making your iPhone into a smart nightstand clock yet, you're missing out!
