my review after paying $20/month for ChatGPT PLUS

I have been paying for ChatGPT plus now for three months and I wanted to share my honest review about it and whether or not it is worth it if you are considering purchasing it.

ChatGPT is free to use however, you only get a certain number of prompts and generations per day, so it made sense to me to purchase it since I use ChatGPT for work and sometimes during play.

my honest review is I think it is worth it however, I just think ChatGPT has a lot of kinks that needs to be worked out. I find myself waiting around a lot of the time while ChatGPT is still prompting images, descriptions, and other things for a long time.

I think ChatGPT is still the best AI software out there however, I just feel like since so many people use it It’s difficult to get fast responses. Especially with it being so pricey at $20 per month. I feel like people who pay for plus should get priority over the free users with faster generation times.

I decided I’m going to take one month off and see whether or not it’s worth it, let me know below if you pay for ChatGPT or you just use it for free now!

... Read moreSo, you've heard my initial thoughts on ChatGPT Plus, and like me, you might be weighing if that $20/month is truly justifiable. Let's dive deeper into what makes it a tough call for many of us, especially when considering the pros and cons of such a significant expense. For me, using it daily for work and sometimes during play made the upgrade seem logical. But I often wonder, for someone who isn't glued to their screen with prompts, is it really worth it? If you're only dabbling, the free version's prompt limits might not even be an issue, making the $20/month feel like an unnecessary luxury. Many users understandably feel that those who pay for Plus should get priority over free users, especially when it comes to response times and feature access. It's a sentiment I definitely share when I'm waiting for a crucial output. One of my biggest frustrations, as I mentioned, is the slowdown. The interface can sometimes feel sluggish, and it's not just my imagination. I've learned that peak usage times, especially between 9 AM and 5 PM, are major culprits due to how compute resources are allocated. It's so annoying when the image generation tool is unavailable, or you're stuck waiting for a single image to process. I've heard others complain about similar issues with various parts of the ChatGPT Pro interface. These little hacks like trying to generate during off-peak hours or breaking down complex prompts into smaller steps don't solve the core issue, but they help manage the frustration when you're paying for a premium service and still experiencing delays. My original review touched on performance, but what about the actual features you get for that $20/month? The potential for advanced capabilities like GPT-5 and Sora video generation is intriguing. While I haven't personally seen Sora fully rolled out on my account yet, the promise for integrated video generation directly within the ChatGPT interface is a game-changer. Imagine generating short clips for social media or presentations without leaving the AI tool! The 'image enhancement suggestions' in the interface are a nice touch, showing how they're trying to push visual capabilities. It makes me hopeful for what GPT-5 will bring to the table in terms of more sophisticated and faster output. Beyond theoretically faster access, I do notice subtle improvements in prompt understanding and a broader range of options in the 'Pro interface' compared to the free version, even if the core functionality feels similar at times. It's the anticipation of these cutting-edge features that really keeps me on the fence about cancelling. Ultimately, the decision to keep paying for ChatGPT Plus feels like a monthly re-evaluation. It's a powerful tool, but its quirks, especially the slowdowns and the occasional unavailability of key tools, make you question that $20. I'm still experimenting, trying to maximize its value, especially with the promise of more advanced features coming our way.

I find that the image generator is much more accurate than Canva: I asked Canva to create a graphic for Jamaican Independence Day and it came out... very wrong. I can't believe it doesn't have the ability to pull an image of the Jamaican flag from the internet: its one of the most recognizable flags on the planet. the ChatGPT image was flawless! I don't know if Chat is worth a full $20/month, but I'd give them $5-10/month for the images alone
