Good Riddance January
January girl, what was that?
Wow, January. Just... wow. When I posted 'January girl, what was that?', I truly felt it in my soul. That first month of the year felt like an entire year packed into 31 days. So many of us online, myself included, were just collectively shaking our heads. I saw comments like 'January 2025 was a mess' making rounds, and honestly, I couldn't agree more. There were days I seriously felt like I could 'sue the United States of America for emotional distress,' as one viral post put it! It wasn't just personal woes, either. The social media landscape was buzzing with so much. I remember seeing a lot of discussion around things like 'Project 2025' and the 'anti-DEI movement' – topics that really hit home and added to the general sense of unease. It felt like 'mediocrity hates to see competition coming,' as someone wisely pointed out. In the midst of all this, accounts like 'missunder5tood twitter' truly became a voice for many of us. Their posts and insights often captured the collective sentiment perfectly, making you feel less alone in the chaos. It's amazing how a few characters on a screen can validate your feelings when you're navigating such a tumultuous period. But amidst the whirlwind, there were moments of pure light. That's the thing about life, right? Even when you're saying 'good riddance January,' you find pockets of joy. For me, 'WHAT MATTERED MOST' was definitely 'Spending time with the people I love.' My son's TV debut in 'The Thundermans: Undercover' on January 22nd was an absolute highlight – seeing him achieve something he loved as a little kid brought immense personal joy. Those moments, celebrating milestones with family, are truly what anchor you. And it’s not just about grand celebrations. It’s the everyday 'CONNECTION'. I've realized, especially through challenging times, that 'Connection is the multiplier of every parenting effort.' Simple '1 on 1 time,' co-working in the same space, or even just chatting with friends who understand – these are the things that build resilience. So, as I reflect on that 'long' January, I can genuinely say I’m looking forward to February. My kid even said, 'Tomorrow is the first day of the best month of the year,' which, after everything, felt like 'Happy Black People Eve' – a moment to celebrate existence and look forward to new beginnings. We faced the mess, we leaned on connection, and 'AND STILL I RISE.' Here's to a brighter month ahead, taking all the lessons learned from our 'Good Riddance January' into the rest of the year.
