His life as a circus performer, specifically a clown and acrobat, immediately suggested a lean, agile build and an expressive face that could convey both his stage persona and his hidden struggles. These core ideas helped me sketch out multiple iterations quickly, focusing on his silhouette and key visual cues before refining details. His backstory is truly what brings him to life. Imagine living in a 1920s universe where magical creatures are hunted and treated as monsters. Sacha, born in captivity, forced to perform in a circus – it’s a poignant blend of beauty and tragedy. His twin sister, Esme, who is sick and blind, becomes his absolute driving force. When a Mafia/rebel group offers protection and medical care for Esme in exchange for Sacha's allegiance, he accepts without hesitation. These elements helped me infuse emotion and narrative into his design, making him more than just an illustration.
