Horror!Sans 🪓

Hey everyone! Since you liked my Horror!Sans drawing, I wanted to share a bit more about why I love sketching characters like him and dive into what makes him so unique in the Undertale universe. When I was working on that hand-drawn sketch, focusing on his cracked skull and wide, toothy grin, I really thought about his backstory. For those who might not know, Horror!Sans comes from Horrortale, an AU where things took a much darker turn after the Neutral run. Unlike the mostly comedic original Sans, Horror!Sans is scarred, both physically and emotionally. His personality is a chilling mix of his old self and the harsh realities of his world. He's often portrayed as desperate, cunning, and sometimes surprisingly empathetic, despite his terrifying appearance. That iconic cracked skull isn't just for show – it's a constant reminder of the suffering in his world. I tried to capture some of that internal struggle in my doodle style drawing. Drawing different Sans AUs is so much fun because each one offers a unique challenge. I've also been exploring characters like Insanity Sans, whose chaotic energy is a blast to capture, or even Cross Sans, who has a really distinct design. The Undertale community, especially on platforms like Tumblr, is just brimming with creativity, from fan theories about 'Undertale integrity' to incredible 'creepypasta Sans' interpretations. It's fascinating how fans create entire new narratives and 'ship children' like Horrordust, expanding on the original story in such imaginative ways. It makes you think about what Sans might be like 'irl' if these dark timelines were real! When I approach a 'sketch horror' piece, especially a skeleton character, I always start by blocking out the main shapes. Then, I focus on the details that truly define the character – for Horror!Sans, it's definitely that 'cracked skull' and intimidating 'spiky or fluffy collar' that make him so recognizable. It’s all about conveying emotion and story through those small details, even in a quick drawing. Playing with shadows and contrasts also helps give that 'drawing cool' vibe. It's not just about replicating an image; it's about interpreting their 'personalidad' and making it your own.
