HOW I STAY ORGANIZED IN COLLEGE

I pride myself on how organized I am with my school work. I have found a great system that works perfectly for me. Here are three ways I stay organized!

NOTION TO-DO

To-do lists are the easiest way to stay on track with your tasks. I use Notion for my to do lists. To make a button, type “/” and type “button.” Click on on it and you can customize your button! The button I made generates a week of empty checklists that I fill in each day!

GOOGLE CALENDAR

Each semester, I color code my classes and add them to my calendar on a weekly repeat. This doesn’t take too long once you get the hang of it. I also have blocks for personal, social, content, and appointments.

GOODNOTES FOLDERS

Each class gets a folder in Goodnotes. In those folders, I have class-specific folders like lecture notes, homework, and studying. This makes it easy to find any notes or old assignments. I prefer to take electronic notes, so I don’t have to worry about misplacing paper notes.

All of these combined make the perfect trio to keep you organized for this school year!

Beyond just making to-do lists on Notion, customizing your workflow to match your personal study habits enhances productivity. For example, Notion’s flexibility allows you to create weekly checklist buttons that automate empty task lists, saving you time every day. This approach helps maintain focus by breaking down tasks into daily chunks rather than looking at a long overwhelming list. Moreover, integrating color-coded schedules on Google Calendar boosts visual clarity—assigning a color for each class and blocks for personal, social, and content-related activities gives you a comprehensive view of your week at a glance. When it comes to note-taking, Goodnotes offers an effective digital solution by organizing notes into subject-specific folders and further sub-categorizing them into lecture notes, homework, and study materials. This hierarchical structure not only keeps everything tidy but also ensures quick access when exam time comes. Taking notes electronically also reduces the risk of losing important papers, a common college issue. Additional tips include setting reminders on Google Calendar for deadlines and exams, syncing your calendar with your phone to receive alerts on the go, and using Notion for collaborative projects where team members can update shared to-do lists. Consider also experimenting with hybrid note-taking methods, using a stylus with Goodnotes to annotate lecture PDFs directly. Ultimately, this trio—Notion to-do lists, Google Calendar scheduling, and Goodnotes folders—forms a cohesive system that can adapt to various learning styles and keep college students on track across academic and personal commitments. Embracing digital organization makes balancing busy college life less stressful and more productive.
