Oh my goodness, you guys! I just had to share the latest little project I tackled for my Mother Goose animatronic. When she first arrived, I was absolutely thrilled to finally have her, but there was one thing that just didn't feel right: her poor eyelids and lashes were completely gone! It's pretty common for vintage animatronics to show some wear and tear, and while I love her character, I felt she truly deserved a bit of a glow-up to bring her back to her former glory, or even better! I knew I wanted to give her prominent, almost whimsical, eyelashes. The original ones must have deteriorated over time, leaving her looking a little bare. I spent some time thinking about what kind of lashes would suit her best. Given she's a white, fluffy Mother Goose, I decided against dark, dramatic ones and opted for something that would complement her soft, feathery look. I found these fantastic white spiky eyelashes that I thought would be perfect – they really add to her charm without looking out of place. The actual process was surprisingly fun and a little delicate! First, I gently cleaned the area where her original eyelids would have been. Then, I carefully measured the length of the lashes against her eyes to ensure they weren't too long or too short. I used a strong, clear-drying adhesive, specifically one meant for crafting that holds well on various materials, to make sure these new lashes would stay put for years to come. Applying them required a steady hand, placing each section meticulously to create that beautiful, fanned-out effect. It was a bit like performing surgery, but for a good cause! Seeing her transformation was just incredible. With her new white spiky eyelashes, paired with her light blue ruffled bonnet and those bright black eyes, she looks so much more expressive and complete. Her light orange beak seems to smile even wider now! It’s amazing how such a small detail can make such a huge difference in an animatronic’s overall appearance and character. She truly looks regal and ready to tell all her stories. If you have an animatronic or even a beloved plush toy that needs a little refresh, don't be afraid to try a DIY project like this! A few tips: research your materials, especially adhesives, to ensure they're safe for your item and durable. Take your time, measure twice, and don't be afraid to experiment with different lash styles. You might be surprised at how much personality you can bring out with just a few simple additions. It's truly rewarding to see your cherished items get a new lease on life, and my Mother Goose animatronic is now looking her absolute best!
