That’s not a sensational claim—it’s a biblical fact. The LORD JESUS CHRIST was not crucified by atheists, pagans, or prostitutes... but by religious people—church leaders, priests, and Bible scholars of His day (cf. Matthew 26:3-5, John 11:47-53). Why? Because THE TRUE GOSPEL confronts human pride, unmasks hypocrisy, and exposes false religion.
GOD has always warned that the most dangerous opposition to HIS TRUTH often rises from within the visible covenant community. In Acts 20:29-30, the Apostle Paul says:
"I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them."
These aren’t outsiders—they’re insiders.
In Galatians 1:6-9, Paul doesn't spare false brethren who distort the gospel:
"Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we preached to you, let him be accursed."
GOD does not take lightly the corruption of HIS WORD—even when it comes wrapped in a smile and a suit from the pulpit.
THE GOSPEL OF GOD IS OFFENSIVE. Why? Because it declares man is totally depraved (Romans 3:10-12), dead in sin (Ephesians 2:1), incapable of saving himself (Titus 3:5), and deserving of eternal wrath (Romans 1:18). It doesn’t flatter. It doesn’t entertain. It doesn’t cater to the flesh. That’s why the carnal mind hates it—and why many religious people oppose it.
So when you preach the true gospel—that salvation is by GRACE ALONE through FAITH ALONE in CHRIST ALONE to the GLORY OF GOD ALONE—expect resistance from people who call themselves Christians but love their own righteousness, their positions, their platforms, and their tradition more than they love GOD.
Jesus warned:
"They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to GOD" (John 16:2, ESV).
Why? Because fake religion masquerades as faith—but in reality, it crucifies TRUTH to protect comfort.
PREACH ANYWAY. Preach like Stephen did (Acts 7), even when it enrages religious hypocrites. Preach like Paul, who endured beatings, imprisonments, and slander from his own countrymen (2 Corinthians 11:23-27). Preach like JESUS, who declared:
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!" (Matthew 23).
Don't fear rejection by men—fear GOD (Luke 12:4-5). JESUS said:
"Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you... on My account" (Matthew 5:11).
Let the modern-day Pharisees gnash their teeth. Let the goats masquerading as sheep bristle. Let the lukewarm pew-sitters protest. YOU PREACH CHRIST CRUCIFIED (1 Corinthians 1:23). You stay faithful.
Because it’s not church people who save—IT IS GOD ALONE WHO SAVES.
REPENT if you've compromised the gospel to avoid conflict.
REPENT if you've loved human approval more than GOD'S truth.
PREACH the WORD. In season and out. With boldness. Without apology.
FOR THE GLORY OF GOD ALONE.
