Luke 19:10

Luke 19:10 states, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost," which is a cornerstone verse emphasizing Jesus’ mission on earth. As someone who has grown up in the Deaf community and served as a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) preacher, I find this verse especially resonant and powerful. It reminds me that Jesus’ mission goes beyond any barriers of hearing or language; his purpose is universal and inclusive. In faith communities, especially among those who use American Sign Language (ASL) and experience the world without sound, Luke 19:10 brings a special comfort and sense of belonging. The idea that Jesus actively seeks out every individual, regardless of their circumstances, strengthens the belief that salvation and hope are accessible to all. This verse also inspires a deeper personal reflection on the meaning of seeking and saving in daily life.
