Its Mighty 5 National Parks (Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef) are simply breathtaking, and having your van means you can explore them at your own pace, often finding free overnight spots just outside the park boundaries. The red rock landscapes, endless hiking trails, and stargazing opportunities are unparalleled. We've spent weeks getting lost in Utah's canyons and never ran out of new places to discover. Don't overlook Idaho either! It might not be as famous as its neighbors, but that's part of its charm. Idaho offers incredible hot springs, rugged mountains, and pristine rivers perfect for kayaking or fishing. We've found fantastic dispersed camping spots high in the Rockies, often with stunning views. Plus, Colorado has a very welcoming van life community and plenty of resources, from gear shops to breweries. Just be prepared for rapidly changing weather in the higher elevations! For those chasing the sun, Arizona is an absolute must-visit, especially during the colder months. Winter in Arizona means warm desert days, incredible sunsets, and iconic landscapes like the Grand Canyon or Sedona's red rocks. There's so much public land available for boondocking, and the mild climate makes outdoor living comfortable year-round. We often found ourselves parked with saguaro cacti as our neighbors – a truly unique experience. Finally, for the ultimate adventure, Alaska is in a league of its own. It's not for the faint of heart, but the sheer scale of the wilderness, the abundant wildlife, and the endless summer daylight hours offer an unforgettable experience. Driving the Alaska Highway in your van is an epic journey in itself, and once you're there, you'll find countless opportunities for hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing in truly untouched landscapes.
