Pack a WHATNOT order with me from my last show!
Packing orders might seem like a simple task, but for any reseller, especially on platforms like Whatnot, it's an art form! I remember when I first started, I'd just throw things into a box. But I quickly learned that how you pack an order can make all the difference in a customer's experience. There's nothing quite like the satisfaction of sending off an order, especially when you know it's for one of your favorite customers, and seeing those positive reviews pour in later. It truly makes the effort worthwhile. Why dedicate so much thought to packing? Beyond just getting an item from point A to point B, careful packing protects your product, reduces the risk of damage claims, and most importantly, delights your customer. A well-packed item shows you care, encourages repeat business, and builds trust. It's an extension of your brand! Before you even start to pack, having the right supplies on hand is crucial. I always stock up on a variety of box sizes, poly mailers for non-fragile items, plenty of bubble wrap, tissue paper, packing tape (the strong kind!), and shipping labels. Don't forget a sharpie for notes and perhaps some fun stickers or thank you cards for that personal touch. Investing in quality materials pays off in the long run by preventing damage. When I say 'LETS PACKA WHATNOT ORDER', I mean let's do it right! My process usually begins with thoroughly inspecting the item one last time. If it's clothing, I'll fold it neatly. For fragile items, a good layer (or two!) of bubble wrap is a must. I often wrap smaller, non-fragile items in tissue paper to add a touch of elegance and protection against scuffs. Next, I select the appropriate box or poly mailer. It's important not to use a box that's too big, as items can shift around and get damaged, but also not too small where it's cramped. Once the item is in, I fill any empty spaces with void fill – crinkle paper, peanuts, or even more crumpled tissue paper work wonders. This prevents movement during transit. Finally, I securely tape up all seams of the box. For poly mailers, their self-adhesive strip is usually sufficient, but I sometimes add a strip of tape for extra security. This is where you can really shine and make an impression, especially for those 'favorite customers'. A handwritten thank you note, a small branded sticker, or even a tiny bonus item (like a cute pin or candy) can elevate the unboxing experience. It shows appreciation and makes them feel special. To make my packing process more efficient, I have a dedicated packing station. All my supplies are organized and within reach. I also try to pack orders in batches if I have multiple sales, which saves time. This way, when I finish a Whatnot show, I can quickly move through all my orders without feeling overwhelmed. Over time, I've learned a few things that have really helped. Always double-check the shipping address! It sounds obvious, but a misplaced digit can cause a lot of headaches. For very delicate items, consider 'double boxing' – placing a smaller, well-padded box inside a larger one. And don't be afraid to reuse packing materials if they're still in good condition – it's eco-friendly and saves money, just make sure they're clean and sturdy. Lastly, always get tracking for your packages. It gives both you and your customer peace of mind. Ultimately, how you pack your Whatnot orders reflects on your professionalism and care as a reseller. It’s more than just logistics; it’s about creating a positive customer journey from click to unbox. I hope these insights help you streamline your packing process and keep your customers, especially your favorites, coming back for more!
