Where should I start..
my boyfriend and I met each other online. He lived in Canada and I lived in America. we fell in love quickly and we dated for a few years.
COVID hit pretty early on in our relationship and borders were closed. We didn’t see each other for over a year. Usually we would visit each other back-and-forth when we could. We were both broke students so it was not often. There is so much more to the long distance relationship, I could make a whole separate story time on its own about dating long distance in COVID and dating long distance period😭
we got to know each other through the phone really well and feel deeply in love over the few years. Finally 2022, we decided to get engaged and he talked to my parents! We got married towards end of 2022 and I moved my life to Canada to be with him. I gave up my apartment, said goodbye to my friends and family, packed my life in a box and left. But I was in love.
To say the least, when reality hit it was extremely difficult as I adjusted to my new life and we learned how to live with each other.
There were so many times I questioned if I did the right thing. I had wanted to be with him so bad, and now that I was here, all I could think about was all I had given up.
Since then, I learned my way around my new city, have met new people, learned to live with a boy, and learned how to love each other better and better everyday.
Im not going to lie im still learning to like my new home. It’s been hard making new friends and its been lonely. But instead of being negative, I try to remember that Life is not linear and chapters close and begin. I try to be grateful everyday for what I have and that good things are always coming.

Ultimately, relocation for love is about creating a new life together, and while it may take time to adjust, every step taken is a part of your unique love story. Be kind to yourself and remember, building a new life is a journey best taken one day at a time.
