Say hello to my new little friend 🥹 a Carolina Mantis

#Didyouknow that it’s

• South Carolina's State Insect: The Carolina mantis was officially named the state insect of South Carolina in June 1988.

• Flightless Females: Adult females have short wings that only cover about two-thirds to three-quarters of their abdomen and cannot fly, whereas slender adult males possess full wings and are capable of flight.

• Color-Changing Nymphs: Young Carolina mantises can adjust their body color (ranging from green to brown or gray) to match their environment each time they shed their skin (molt).

He’s a pretty cool little buddy to hang out with today 🥰 #bugs #coolbugs #carolinamantis #rascalridge
