DUO SUCKS?
i deleted duolingo, and here is why!
as someone who is bilingual, speaking multiple languages is hard, so i downloaded duolingo to help freshen up my language skills when I'm not using them. I really loved the app, right up until it got really pushy. I am horrible at keeping things going, and one of their main things to keep you motivated is streaks. you do lessons daily, you build a streak! I felt like they focused more so on the streaks you built rather than the language building. Second, their publicity. they do have a tiktok page, but a lot of their tiktoks and comments are pushing the idea that duo will cause harm if you don't do your lessons, or forget your streak. and it's all jokes, but I would rather not think about those scenarios. Third, I'm mostly using it to practice speaking skills and writing skills. I've got listening and reading in the bag because my family only ever speaks Spanish. Funny enough, the only way to effectively target those kinds of lessons is through Super Duolingo, or a paid monthly subscription.
I've been hearing about other language apps, and I want to know which worked best for you so I can try those out too! lmk which one you use!
