I’m in the process of writing a book. I’ve started quite a few but I never get really far before I just give up.
This time I’m actually farther than I’ve ever gotten before, I’m at 25,843 words with a goal of 50k to finish.
The past few days I’ve written about 3,500 words and it feels great to be making progress. So I thought I’d share a bit.
My book deals with some dark subjects, so there will be trigger warnings.
A little background on the book. There are 4 main characters (this is a why choose). Esmeray (Ezzy) and Kai are married and have two kids, Archer and Shiloh. Ezzy and Kai’s best friends are Samantha and Andy.
The snippet that I posted is Sam and Andy talking. I just love how sassy Sam is and how silly Andy is. I hope you love them as much as I do and will want to read my book when I’m done.
Oh and I spent a lot of time looking for pictures of everyone’s vehicles so I had to share them. Lol

Writing a book is not just about reaching a word count; it involves deep exploration of characters and themes. In my writing process for this book, I've embraced the complexity of my characters, particularly the dynamics between Esmeray (Ezzy) and Kai, alongside their best friends Samantha and Andy. This ‘why choose’ narrative seeks to address darker subjects while offering a sassy yet comedic relief through Samantha's character.
With a target of 50,000 words, maintaining motivation is key. Many authors struggle with sticking to their projects, but finding an engaging storyline and relatable characters can ignite passion and drive. Sharing snippets and seeking feedback from fellow writers is a fantastic way to stay connected and gather insights that enrich the writing experience.
Visuals can also enhance storytelling; I spent considerable time gathering images of the characters’ vehicles, which helps to create a vivid world for readers. Engaging in social media communities like #books and #writing can provide crucial support and encouragement as I navigate through this process.
Whether shared in snippets or through vivid descriptions, ensuring that the narrative feels authentic and engaging is vital in creating a compelling story that resonates with readers. I hope this journey inspires others facing similar challenges in the writing world.
