Budget with me as a 29 year old mom!

I always shop at Publix every week. The main reason is for the BOGOs! You can get brand name, good food at half the price if you plan your list according to what is on sale. Usually, I look at the Publix BOGOs in the weekly ad (you can get the app, BOGOs refresh on Wednesday) and start making a list accordingly. Here is what I got this week for $54 even!
The images show both the haul and the prices for the whole trip and individual items. I also love how Publix gives you the total savings. Here, I spent $54 but saved $41.92. It always brings me joy to see the savings!
Now, I do not do all my shopping at Publix! That would be pretty expensive as it is a pricy store. I supplement the BOGOs with staples from ALDI and Walmart. This has brought our grocery bill down to about 150-160$ a week!
What I plan to make with these:
- Tuscan chicken with the thighs
- Baked chicken wings with corn
- Pork loin with a salad and feta potatoes
Happy shopping 🛒!
For many families, managing a grocery budget efficiently is a must, especially for busy parents. Utilizing strategic shopping methods like Publix’s Buy One Get One (BOGO) deals can significantly reduce food expenses without sacrificing quality. Planning your shopping list based on the weekly BOGO offers, which refresh every Wednesday via the Publix app, allows you to purchase brand-name products at half price or less. Beyond just shopping at one store, supplementing your pantry staples from more affordable retailers such as ALDI and Walmart can help stretch your budget even further. ALDI is known for its affordable prices on produce, dairy, and pantry staples, while Walmart offers competitive prices and convenient bulk options. This combined approach helps families stay well within their weekly grocery budget, which can average between $150 to $160. Smart budgeting also includes meal planning based on purchased items. For example, using chicken thighs in Tuscan chicken recipes, baking chicken wings paired with corn, or preparing pork loin with salads and feta potatoes are nutritious meal ideas that maximize the value and minimize waste. Keeping a running tally of your total savings after shopping not only reinforces good budgeting habits but also adds motivation by visually showing how much you save each trip. Additionally, incorporating apps that track sales and digital coupons, setting a weekly budget, and regularly reviewing receipts for savings summaries can enhance overall grocery budgeting success. This multi-store, multi-offer strategy is not only cost-effective but also manageable for busy parents balancing family and finances. By sharing your shopping haul and meal ideas on platforms like Lemon8, you contribute to a supportive community dedicated to smart money management and practical lifestyle tips.
