What’s Your “Read Next” Line Up?
I may be accruing a decent amount of books. 😂
Im reading “A Court of Mist and Fury” right now. I think up next is definitely going to be “Onyx Storm” which should hopefully arrive in the mail soon. 🥹❤️
After that I think it’s going to be:
The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen
Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
Lightlark by Alex Aster
When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker
The Body Keeps Score by Bessel van der Kolk
My current conundrum is: should I be bouncing around between series? I feel like I should be reading the next ACOTAR book, but I have a backlog before I can/should buy more. 🥲
What books do you have lined up? Do you jump around series when there are still other books in the series available? Is there a series or a book you’d recommend?

Picking your next read can feel like a delicious but overwhelming task, right? I totally get that 'accrewing a decent amount of books' feeling! My current stack, including A Court of Mist and Fury and the eagerly awaited Onyx Storm, has me buzzing. But then comes the big question: how do you decide what book to read next when there are so many amazing options? One thing I'm constantly grappling with is whether to stick with a series or jump around. On one hand, diving deep into a series like the ACOTAR saga or The Bridge Kingdom lets you live in that world for longer, really getting to know the characters and plot arcs. It's so satisfying to pick up the next book and immediately be immersed again! But then, a shiny new release like When the Moon Hatched or Lightlark catches my eye, or I remember a classic like Brave New World that's been on my list forever, and suddenly my loyalty to a series is tested. My personal take? Sometimes bouncing around is exactly what you need to avoid a reading slump! If one genre or series is feeling a bit heavy, switching to something completely different, like a thrilling fantasy or even a non-fiction deep dive like The Body Keeps Score, can re-ignite your reading spark. I've found that having a mix keeps things fresh. Maybe I'll do one series book, then a standalone, then another series book from a different world. It’s all about what feels right for you at that moment. So, how do *I* usually decide what books to read next? I have a few tricks for managing my 'to read' list: Mood Reading: This is my go-to! What kind of story do I crave right now? Do I need an escape with epic fantasy, a heartwarming romance, or something thought-provoking? Library Holds/New Releases: Sometimes the universe decides for me when a library hold comes in or a pre-ordered book like Onyx Storm finally arrives. Recommendations from Friends (and Lemon8!): Seriously, asking 'what should I read next?' on platforms like this is gold! Hearing what others loved often pushes a book to the top of my list. Genre Rotation: I try to ensure I’m not reading only one type of book. After a big fantasy series, a contemporary romance or a mystery can be a refreshing palette cleanser. For anyone looking for their next read, don't be afraid to experiment! Maybe pick up Crown of Midnight if you love a strong female lead and intricate plots, or give The Bridge Kingdom a try for some enemies-to-lovers goodness. And if you're like me and have a pile of books waiting, remember it's not a race. It's about enjoying each story when the time is right. What's currently whispering your name from your bookshelf?
