Book series I read recently ✨📖✨
I recently read The Kingdom of the Wicked series by Kerri Maniscalco and I loved it! The first two books I read within 24 hours of starting them. Each are somewhere around 380-400ish pages, and I just could not put them down. I had seen them on Amazon a couple of years ago and thought the cover looked cool and put them on my list to eventually get, not knowing the premise of the series at all. I hadn’t realized there would be so much spice in it, but I also don’t know why I expected a modern fantasy book to not have spicy. 😂 It got progressively spicier through each book, though. 👀
It starts off QUICK. It takes place in 1890s Italy and is more or less about a long standing animosity between the Italian witches and the “Wicked”, who are the demon princes who rule hell who are all named and based off of the 7 deadly sins. The main character, Emilia (17), works in her family owned restaurant with her parents, grandma, and twin sister Vittoria and loves her life. When her sister is suddenly murdered and has her heart torn out of her chest, Emilia is consumed with finding out who killed her sister, no matter the cost.
I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I cannot tell you how good this series was, especially the first two books. The third book I feel like could have been better. It felt like the author wasn’t sure how to wrap it up, and just kind of made everything work out somehow and it definitely could have been done better. Third book was still good, but it wasn’t great like the first two.
She has a spin off series about the other princes called Throne of the Fallen. I can’t wait to read these eventually, but my TBR list just keeps growing 😂
