Casual snooze

My little tabby cat is truly the queen of the 'casual snooze,' especially when it comes to my workspace. Just like the picture shows, she often curls up right on my colorful keyboard with those fun round keycaps, making it impossible to type or game! I've even seen her doze off during an intense game session on my computer monitor, sometimes even past 3 AM. It’s a classic cat owner dilemma, isn't it? I used to wonder why she'd pick my keyboard over her comfy bed. After a bit of observation, I realized it's a mix of warmth, familiarity, and pure attention-seeking. The laptop or monitor generates a little heat, which is cozy for them. Plus, my scent is all over my desk, making it feel safe. And let's be honest, they know exactly how to get our undivided attention! When she's wearing her blue collar and curled up on my dark desk, looking so peaceful, how can I move her? A cat curled up sleeping peacefully, like mine often is, is usually a sign of feeling secure and content. They tuck their paws in close to their body, sometimes even covering their face, to conserve heat and protect vulnerable areas. It’s a deep, trustful sleep. I love watching her. Sometimes she'll be on the desk mat with those cool celestial designs, completely oblivious to the world. So, how do you deal with a keyboard cat? I've tried a few things. First, I made sure she has other super comfy, warm spots nearby. A heated cat bed or a soft blanket on a shelf next to my desk can sometimes divert her attention. Second, I try to schedule my intensive work or gaming sessions around her nap times, if possible. If I really need the keyboard, I'll gently move her to a designated comfy spot, often with a treat or a comforting pat. It’s all about compromise, right? Another thing that helps is a bit of playtime before I settle down to work. A tired cat is a sleeping cat, and sometimes a good play session can lead to a nap in a more appropriate location. I've also found that having a 'decoy' keyboard or a warm, soft mat next to my actual keyboard can sometimes work wonders. They just want to be close to us and feel involved, even if their involvement means a 'casual snooze' right on top of our productivity. Ultimately, these adorable interruptions are part of the joy of having a cat. Seeing my tabby cat snoozing peacefully, whether on my keyboard, desk, or a special bed, reminds me to slow down and appreciate the simple, cozy moments. It's a small price to pay for the endless purrs and companionship they bring into our lives. Every cat owner knows that feeling of a cat curled up and sleeping peacefully, even if it's in the most inconvenient spot possible!
