Acorn Squash 🍴

I saw someone else make something with acorn squash recently and it made me curious. I rubbed the inside with melted butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt and popped it in the over at 400 for an hour and ten minutes. It was actually pretty tasty, even if it won’t be a staple in my house. 😋

... Read moreAcorn squash is a versatile winter squash known for its sweet, nutty flavor and appealing shape. When roasted, it becomes tender and caramelized, making it an ideal side dish or a base for creative recipes. The combination of melted butter, maple syrup, and brown sugar enhances its natural sweetness while adding a rich, buttery texture. Roasting at 400°F for around an hour allows the squash to soften completely and develop a golden, slightly crisp surface. Beyond this basic preparation, acorn squash can be stuffed with savory fillings such as quinoa, vegetables, or sausage for a hearty meal. Nutritionally, it is packed with fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants, supporting a healthy diet especially during the fall and winter months. To prepare acorn squash, slice it in half, scoop out the seeds, and brush the cavity with your chosen ingredients before baking. Some variations include adding cinnamon or nutmeg for warmth or a sprinkle of chili flakes for mild heat. This recipe offers a straightforward way to enjoy seasonal produce while experimenting with flavors that complement fall cuisine.
