📄 Plot: A retelling of the story of Medusa and Perseus

📖 Genre: Greek Mythology

📄 My Favorite Quotes: ‘And is a monster always evil? Is there ever such a thing as a good monster? Because what happens when a good person becomes a monster?’

💭 My Thoughts: First things first, there is victim blaming throughout the book. Everything that happens to many of the female Characters within this story is somehow the woman’s fault. This book does a great job at depicting the gods and goddesses as arrogant bullies and in truth that is what they are. They are the main villains in Medusa’s story and quite honestly they are the Villains of many stories. I was angry most of the time reading this book and it’s safe to say that is what Haynes intended. Spoiler, I’m glad Medusa got her lick back in the end but I do wish she was never returned to the sea, because at the end of it all Poseidon needed to be punished as well and that is the exact opposite of what happened. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Greek mythology or a fan of Miller’s books and wants more retelling from the lesser characters POV.

⭐ Star Rating: 4.5 because it didn’t move me the way Circe did but it did get an emotional response out of me. I enjoyed it but finished it to see if justice was given.

When starting this book I did think It has a slow start. I also feel as if the Freida did a good job building up the story to where I always had questions about something. I do feel like there is a lot of plot twists and things that I just utterly did not expect to happen. ⭐️Overall rating: 4/5
