On to the next! Who’s guilty of judging a book by its cover? I’m definitely guilty of it 🙋🏽‍♀️ and this cover had me going back to its display several times while in Barnes & Noble the other day.

💭: I’ve only seen a single post here on Lemon8 about the book and it was a fantasy tbr post. This book seems to be right up my alley and it is intense from the prologue on! I have high hopes, I love the plot so far and the characters seem to be well thought out.

I especially LOVE the descriptive text! I can picture everything HK writes, she does such a wonderful job! There’s a scene when she introduces Elo, a king’s knight turned baker, and I had no problem imagining what she was trying to paint.

It’s also an inclusive diverse cast! I get so excited reading about characters that look like me or my family and there are several BIPOC characters. I also really like that one of the main character is missing a leg but it doesn’t slow her down, she’s still a major badass! I know there a plenty people with prosthetics that are so strong mentally and physically and it’s awesome to see that they are portrayed here in that way!

It’s a short book just over 300 pages, so please what are you reading?! I love having a lineup for after I’ve finished. My next read is either Babel or One Dark Window!
