DENIAL BOOK REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!! I may not relate to Livvy for everything but I do have anxiety. This book made me go through all the emotions. I loved how Liam always knew exactly what to say to her. I also loved TJ, Jaycee, and Shawn. I hated Nathan with all of my heart. I disliked Roni and she annoyed me so much especially when she was with Nathan.

The narrator M.K. Blackwood did amazing!! I loved her voice for all characters!!

“But I love you, Olive Rae Reape. Not some version of you, not someone I expect you to be. These weeks have been everything to me, because of you, Livvy. You.”

... Read moreYou know, sometimes the most compelling parts of a story aren't just what characters say, but what they don't say, or what they refuse to admit to themselves. When I picked up 'Denial' by R.S. Crawford, especially knowing it's part of 'The Grief Series,' I was immediately intrigued by how the concept of 'denial' would be explored. It's such a powerful psychological state, isn't it? We all experience it in different forms – denying feelings, denying reality, or even denying our own needs. Reading this review, it's clear this book dives deep into those emotional complexities. The mention of Livvy's anxiety and how Liam always knew what to say really makes you think about the subtle dynamics at play. Often, characters in denial might push away the very things they need, or create situations where others have to 'tease' out the truth or their true emotions. It’s not about manipulation, but about the delicate dance of human connection when someone is struggling with an internal battle. In literature, 'teasing' isn't always about playful banter; it can be a narrative tool. An author might 'tease' the reader with hints and partial revelations, building suspense and making you desperate to uncover the full truth. Or, a character might 'tease' another, not with malicious intent, but perhaps to provoke a reaction, to break through a wall of denial, or even to test the waters of a burgeoning relationship. This kind of nuanced interaction can be incredibly effective in character development, showing us layers beneath the surface. When the reviewer mentions disliking Nathan and Roni, and loving Liam and the others, it highlights how deeply these character interactions affect us. Was Nathan or Roni employing a form of 'denial' or 'teasing' that was off-putting? Or perhaps Liam's ability to 'always know what to say' was a gentle way of navigating Livvy's own denial or anxiety, helping her confront things she might have hidden from herself. It's these psychological threads that make a book truly immersive. Thinking about the book's cover, with its compass and blue butterflies, and the title being 'Denial' within 'The Grief Series' – it paints a picture of characters navigating complex emotional landscapes, perhaps denying a painful reality or searching for direction. The 'compass' could symbolize that search for truth amidst denial. R.S. Crawford likely uses these elements to weave a story where characters are forced to confront their internal struggles, perhaps through challenging interactions that feel like a subtle 'tease' of what's to come, or a slow unraveling of their deepest denials. For anyone interested in the intricate dance of human emotions and the psychological games (both intentional and unintentional) that play out in relationships, a book like 'Denial' offers a rich tapestry. It's a testament to how authors can explore complex themes like denial and the subtle art of emotional provocation without resorting to overt 'techniques,' but rather through authentic character journeys. These stories help us understand ourselves and others better, making us reflect on our own moments of denial and how we navigate the 'teasing' challenges life throws our way.
