The guy on the right, book review!

Theo and Laney meet at a college party. Both of them are going through breakups and just stumble into each other, ending up having a really good conversation. They plan not to exchange numbers or see each other again, but when they run into each other the next day, they decide to be friends. They quickly become best friends and start a social media account together to document their most authentic lives. Their friendship is great, and they soon become each other’s comfort from the world around them. Slowly at first, then quickly and all at once, they fall madly in love. However, their love doesn’t come without issues. Jealousy and misunderstandings almost cost them everything. This story is a refreshing take on the friends-to-lovers trope, and I loved it! Definitely recommend reading this book! #bookstagram #booktoker #booked #keepreading #katestewart #BookReview #bookrecommendation #bookbabe #booknerd #bookaddict

... Read moreOkay, so I just had to tell you more about 'The Guy on the Right' by Kate Stewart because my initial review barely scratched the surface of why I loved it so much! When I first saw the cover – you know the one, with the five shirtless men and an arrow pointing to one, and that cool cowboy boot illustration – I was immediately intrigued. It really sets a mood, hinting at a fun, perhaps a little cheeky, contemporary romance, and let me tell you, it delivered! What really drew me in was Theo and Laney's journey. It wasn't just a typical meet-cute; they both came into it fresh off breakups, finding unexpected comfort in each other at a college party. It felt so real, that moment when you just click with someone, even when you're not looking for it. Their decision to not exchange numbers, only to run into each other again the next day? Pure fate, right? That's the kind of serendipity that makes a friends-to-lovers story truly special. Their friendship blossoms so organically. I loved how they built this social media account together to document their 'authentic lives' – it's such a modern touch that adds another layer to their connection. You really get to see them become each other's safe haven, their go-to person for everything. This foundation is crucial because it makes their eventual slow burn into love so much more believable and impactful. You're rooting for them every step of the way because you've seen the depth of their bond. Now, let's talk about the drama, because what's a good romance without a little spice? The author doesn't shy away from the realities of relationships, even perfect-seeming ones. The jealousy and misunderstandings felt incredibly authentic, not just forced plot devices. They highlighted the vulnerabilities and insecurities that can creep into even the strongest connections, especially when transitioning from friendship to something more. It made their love feel hard-earned and therefore, more precious. It wasn't about cheap thrills; it was about navigating tricky emotions and learning to trust fully. For anyone who usually finds the friends-to-lovers trope a bit predictable, I promise you, this one feels different. It's not just the usual 'we were always meant to be' narrative. Kate Stewart weaves in complexities that elevate the story, making it a refreshing take. The pacing, as their love developed 'slowly at first, then quickly and all at once,' perfectly captures that whirlwind feeling of falling head over heels when you least expect it. It's a testament to her writing that she can make such a classic trope feel so fresh and compelling. If you're looking for a romance that combines genuine friendship, heartfelt emotional growth, and just the right amount of tension, you absolutely have to pick up 'The Guy on the Right'. It’s one of those books that stays with you long after you've turned the last page, leaving you with a warm, fuzzy feeling and maybe a little ache for your own Theo or Laney moment. Seriously, add this to your TBR pile – you won't regret it!

Catching up on some books I read and never got around to posting reviews on… The cutest book and storvline I've read in a while!! While I did think it was dragging on for a bit at first, it built up for a wonderful ending. I was nervous it would be rushed but I feel it played out well.
