Pen Pal book review!

This book starts off simply: a grieving widow meets a handsome handyman. It feels too soon for Kayla to catch feelings after her husband’s death, but she can’t help it. She feels as though she already knows Aidan—almost like she already loves him. Then strange things start happening. She keeps seeing her dead husband out and about. A little boy also keeps appearing at her home, but he doesn’t seem to hear her. And then there’s the biggest issue: the letters from her new pen pal, Dante, who is apparently in prison and only wants one thing—her.

At this point in the book, things weren’t making a lot of sense to me. Honestly, I got really confused. While the story was good, I felt like a lot of things were happening that didn’t really seem connected. My advice for this book is to see it through. At one point, I considered stopping because it felt so random, but everything ties together beautifully in the end. I highly recommend this read! #bookreader #bookreviewer #bookstagramfeature #bookedandbusy #booktokbooks

... Read moreOkay, so I just have to talk more about J.T. Geissinger's 'Pen Pal' because my initial review only scratched the surface of how truly wild this book is. Like my friend mentioned earlier, I was genuinely confused for a good chunk of the story. You have Kayla, a grieving widow, and then Aidan, the handsome handyman. It felt almost too easy, too soon for her to fall for someone, and that's exactly where the author starts to mess with your head in the best way possible. What really kept me hooked through those confusing parts was the escalating mystery. You're constantly asking yourself: Is Aidan Dante? What's going on with her dead husband appearing? Who is this little boy? The letters from Dante are so unsettlingly possessive, yet you can't help but be drawn into the psychological game. Geissinger is a master at planting seeds of doubt and suspicion, making every interaction between Kayla, Aidan, and the unseen Dante feel charged with unspoken secrets. I loved how the book plays with your perceptions and expectations, making you question everything you thought you knew about the characters and their motives. It’s a compelling dance between romance and psychological thriller. And let's talk about the 'spicy' factor, because yes, it's definitely there! The romance between Kayla and Aidan is incredibly intense and passionate, adding another layer of complexity to the narrative. The spicy chapters aren't just for show; they deepen the connection and the emotional stakes, making the twists even more impactful. It's a steamy read that doesn't shy away from exploring desire and intimacy, which I think is crucial for the story's emotional depth and for understanding Kayla's journey of healing and rediscovery. It really elevates the stakes when you're emotionally invested in these characters. Before even diving into the pages, the book cover itself drew me in. The striking image featuring a tattooed man, combined with that poignant quote about love and loss, perfectly sets the tone for the intricate blend of romance, mystery, and emotional turmoil you're about to experience. It’s almost a clue in itself to the complexity within. Ultimately, for anyone who loves a psychological romance with jaw-dropping twists, this book is an absolute must-read. If you're looking for a story that keeps you guessing until the very last page and delivers a satisfying, albeit shocking, resolution, then 'Pen Pal' by J.T. Geissinger needs to be on your TBR list. Trust me, the payoff is worth every moment of confusion!

I second your thoughts. I really did enjoy the book, and was happy with the way it ended. But I also thought the ending was rushed. That being said I plan to reread it. And am hoping the story flows better the second time. ^-^
