Episode 2

Another strong opinion I have absolutely no credentials to have:

I think we’re all insecure about basically the same shit.

There. I said it.

I do not have a psychology degree.

I have conducted no peer-reviewed studies.

No university has asked for my findings.

And yet, unfortunately, I have reached a conclusion.

I heard Chase Hughes talk about something similar once, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it.

Put 100 people in a room and ask every one of them to anonymously write down their deepest insecurities.

Then take away the names, type them all in the same font, shuffle them and hand them back out.

I bet half the room would be standing there like:

“Wait. Is this mine?”

Not attractive enough.

Not successful enough.

Not interesting enough.

Too much.

Not enough.

Hard to love.

Easy to replace.

Everyone else seems to know what they’re doing and I’m apparently just three raccoons in a trench coat with a checking account.

Same shit.

Different font.

We just decorate it differently.

One person becomes a perfectionist.

One becomes a people pleaser.

One needs everybody to think they’re successful.

One develops a personality entirely out of sarcasm.

One posts inspirational quotes at 6:14 every morning.

And one spends $47,000 on a truck that requires a small staircase to enter.

I am not saying these people are insecure.

Remember, I have no qualifications.

I’m just saying I have questions. 😂

Maybe the weirdly comforting part is that the thing you’ve spent years believing makes you uniquely defective is probably sitting inside 63 other people at Walmart right now.

They just bought different coping mechanisms.

Again, absolutely no credentials.
