genre: romance
tropes: small town, fake dating, “just friends”
my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
if you’re looking for a fun holiday read, i would 100% recommend this indie romance by heather garvin!! from the very beginning, i was in love with candace and chase. their banter and chemistry were perfect, and the pacing of their relationship made it feel so believable and real. this book made me laugh and smile, and watching our two main characters grow closer throughout their “just friends” stage was the sweetest. there are only about two spicy scenes! it’s a cutesy, laugh-out-loud small town holiday romance that will put you in the christmas spirit 🥰

Okay, so you've heard about 'When the Fake Snow Falls' by Heather Garvin, and maybe you're wondering if it's truly worth diving into. Let me tell you, as a fellow romance reader, this book absolutely delivers on every front, making it a solid five gold stars in my book! I picked it up looking for some festive cheer, and it completely exceeded my expectations, setting the bar high for holiday reads. One of the biggest draws for me was how perfectly the tropes woven into the story played out. We've got the classic 'fake dating' scenario, which, let's be honest, is always a blast. But what made it shine here was the authentic progression from initial agreement to genuine connection. Candace and Chase's journey didn't feel rushed at all; in fact, watching them navigate their 'just friends' stage was incredibly sweet and believable. You could genuinely feel their bond developing, making their eventual romance feel earned and deeply satisfying. This isn't just a surface-level temporary arrangement; it’s a beautifully crafted path to falling in love. Then there's the small town setting, which is just magical for a holiday romance. It creates this cozy, intimate atmosphere where everyone knows everyone, and the community spirit really shines through. It's the kind of place where you can almost smell the pine needles and hot cocoa just by reading. This quaint backdrop amplifies the warmth of the story and makes you want to curl up under a cozy blanket, perhaps by some twinkling Christmas lights, and never leave. The small-town charm contributes so much to the overall festive vibe, making it feel like a comforting hug in book form. And the banter! Oh my goodness, the banter between Candace and Chase is truly exceptional. It's witty, smart, and genuinely funny, adding so much life and energy to their interactions. Good banter is key to great chemistry, and these two had the best chemistry! Their conversations sparkled, making me laugh out loud multiple times. It's not just fluff; it's a testament to their connection and how well they understand each other, even when they're pretending. This fantastic dialogue is a huge part of what makes their relationship feel so real and delightful to witness. Beyond the tropes and witty exchanges, what really stood out was the sheer joy this book brought. It's the kind of story that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling, brimming with Christmas spirit. If you're craving a lighthearted, cutesy read that will make you smile from ear to ear, then 'When the Fake Snow Falls' is an absolute must-read. Heather Garvin, as an indie author, has crafted something truly special here, and I wholeheartedly recommend adding this to your holiday reading list. It’s perfect for anyone looking to escape into a world of festive romance, charming characters, and genuine connection.
