Jardin Du Luxembourg

Beautiful park in Paris ☀️

Plenty of green grass to lay around and read a book. There is seating available, public restrooms, cafes, and food options.

This park was massive. The garden is surrounded by flowers and leaves you speechless.

The toy sailboat rental is charming. You get to sail it in the main fountain area.

Overall the perfect rest stop after a long day of walking around the city.

Luxembourg Garden

... Read moreYou know, when I first planned my trip to Paris, the Jardin du Luxembourg was on my list, but I had no idea what a truly enchanting place it would be. Beyond the stunning flower beds and the vast green lawns perfect for lounging, there’s a little secret waiting to be discovered that blew me away: a replica of the Statue of Liberty! Yes, you read that right! Tucked away on the west side of the garden, near the entrance from Rue de Fleurus, stands a charming, smaller version of Lady Liberty. It’s a bronze model, originally created by Auguste Bartholdi himself – the sculptor of the iconic Statue of Liberty in New York. The one in the garden is a gift from Bartholdi to the Musée du Luxembourg in 1900 and later moved to its current spot. Finding it felt like a treasure hunt, and it’s such a cool piece of Franco-American history right there in Paris. Don't miss taking a photo with her! But the Jardin du Luxembourg is so much more than just a famous replica. As I explored, I was captivated by the grandeur of the Luxembourg Palace, which proudly stands behind the central fountain. This isn't just any palace; it's steeped in history, originally built for Marie de' Medici. Today, it hosts the French Senate, and its elegant architecture adds a majestic backdrop to the garden. Around the central fountain (the Grand Bassin), I loved watching children steer their toy sailboats with long sticks – it’s a timeless, charming activity that truly brings the garden to life, just as the OCR mentioned "children play with toy sailboats." Beyond the main avenues, you’ll find intricately designed flower beds that burst with color, changing with the seasons. I particularly adored the detailed white stone monument with statues that stands majestically, surrounded by these vibrant blooms, just as depicted in the OCR. There are also over a hundred statues scattered throughout the park, depicting queens, artists, and mythological figures, each telling a story and inviting you to pause and appreciate the artistry. It's like an open-air museum! For anyone needing a break from the hustle and bustle of Paris, this park is truly a sanctuary. While I loved reading on the lush green grass, I also noticed locals playing pétanque, chess enthusiasts engrossed in their games, and even pony rides for the little ones. The atmosphere is always lively yet peaceful. With several cafes dotted around, like the one near the Orangerie, it’s easy to grab a coffee or a snack and just soak it all in. It’s not just a park; it’s a vibrant heart of Parisian life that offers a perfect mix of history, culture, and relaxation, making it an ideal rest stop after a long day of exploring the city.
