The OA is VERY hard to explain… But it has two seasons and you can find it on Netflix. It’s somehow spiritual and scientific at the same time. There is a talking octopus, interpretive dance, an evil scientist, “Angels”. Highly recommend.
Haunting of Hill House is a MUST especially if you like spooky feel shows. I would say the angst is strong in this one, which kept me hooked. The most important aspect of this show to me is family. If you like angsty haunted houses this is the show for you but get ready for waterworks! Can find this on Netflix!
Gravity Falls starts off really cute and fun but I would say there are a lot of heavy themes in it for it to be a kids show. You can find this show on Disney+. If you like multidimensional, fun, conspiracy filled animation, this is a good watch.
3 Body Problem is on Netflix. Much like The OA, I can’t explain what it is about BUT it is REALLY good. It jumps between past and present. There are “aliens” but not in the way you may have seen depicted in other shows. Really cool but you may need to watch twice.
Interview With the Vampire is just very dark and sexy… I like that there are elements of race included in the show; Louis struggles are multidimensional and grey. The acting is PHENOMENAL. Lestat is a diva. Louis is so babygirl. And Claudia is that GIRL. I believe this is on Netflix now.

For me, fall is prime binge-watching season! It’s the perfect time to dive deep into stories that can be a little spooky, a little mysterious, or just wonderfully immersive.
When I think about my ideal fall watch list, I'm always looking for shows that either embrace the darker, more atmospheric side of autumn or offer a comforting escape. If you're anything like me, you might be drawn to those spine-tingling series that keep you on the edge of your seat. Shows that explore haunted houses or unsettling mysteries, much like the intense family drama found in 'Haunting of Hill House,' are absolutely essential for those long autumn nights. There's nothing quite like a good ghost story when the wind is howling outside!
But fall isn't just about scares. It's also a fantastic season for mind-bending sci-fi and fantasy. I personally love getting lost in complex narratives that make me think long after the credits roll. If you're a fan of shows that blend spiritual and scientific concepts, or those with unique takes on alien encounters, like 'The OA' or '3 Body Problem,' you know exactly what I mean. These kinds of series are perfect for stimulating conversations with friends or just pondering the universe on your own. They truly offer a different kind of escapism that feels just right for the season.
And let's not forget the appeal of darker, character-driven dramas. I find that fall often brings out my craving for stories with rich, often morally grey characters and intricate plots. The allure of a well-crafted vampire narrative, for instance, with its blend of romance, darkness, and existential angst, feels inherently autumnal. Think along the lines of 'Interview With the Vampire' – the kind of show that's both sexy and thought-provoking, exploring deep characters and societal elements within a supernatural setting.
For those moments when I need something a bit lighter but still packed with intrigue, I often turn to animated series that have layers of complexity. Sometimes, what starts as seemingly innocent fun can evolve into something much deeper, filled with multidimensional characters and conspiracy theories – a bit like the unexpected depth you find in 'Gravity Falls.' It's a great way to enjoy fall vibes without committing to something too heavy.
Beyond specific show recommendations, I’ve found that creating the perfect binge-watching atmosphere really enhances the experience during fall. I always make sure I have my coziest blanket, a warm cup of cider or tea, and maybe some autumn-spiced snacks. Dimming the lights and letting the ambient glow of the screen take over just adds to the magic. Whether you're in the mood for a good scare, a deep dive into another dimension, or a compelling character study, fall is truly the best time to explore new worlds from the comfort of your couch. What are your go-to fall binge-watching rituals?
